  • Dyslexia is a learning difference that leads to difficulties with accurate word reading and spelling. It is characterised by:

    • Difficulties in phonological awareness.

    • Difficulties with verbal memory and processing speed.

It’s important to know that Dyslexia does not affect a person's intelligence.

  • Full Diagnostic Assessment

This is a confidential assessment which involves a series of standardised tests which assess areas such as processing abilities, phonological awareness and memory. This test usually takes approximately 3 hours but this can be spread over two sessions.

    Access Arrangements Assessment

Sometimes children need to be considered for extra time or a form of adjustment when sitting SATs or other exams. Grove Dyslexia is able to provide the necessary data that schools require.

  • Assessments are available for any adult or child regardless of age, skill level or reason.

In some cases, dyslexia is not diagnosed until adulthood. However, different issues arise in adults and this is when an assessment may prove beneficial.

If you are at all worried about the progress your child is making at school, your first port of call should always be the class teacher or school SENCO. They will be able to advise you as to whether or not an assessment is needed.
